Ithaca based and Chinese born artist Xiaowen Chen’s work focuses on questions of identity in the 21st century, and his "travel" photographs taken in the United States and China examine the complex and varied nature of cultural perception. Chen's digital images and video projections also continue a dialogue, rooted in the literary tradition, that puts the clichés produced by tourism in a more critical light.
